Williard Comes to Santa Monica for the Holidays!
The story goes: A young man named Williard was interested in various vacation tours. Since it was nearing the holidays to many around the world, Williard decided he would look at the various holiday tours.., but which one?... Williard spoke to his longtime friend to ask his advice. He was ready
for a vacation, he told his friend. Maybe some walking activities as well. Any ideas?
Williard's friend was encouraged, as Williard hardly ever chose to exercise, never cared to walk, rarily gave up his dressy shoes for walking shoes, and
a Santa holiday? He had the perfect Christmas Santa recommendation.
Now Williard, muddling clumsily with his phone, & eager to pack
for his time away, didn't quite catch his good friend's information correctly. He laughed to himself, too embarassed to call his friend back. Let's see, it
had something to do with Santa (maybe a Santa visit was in the cards), it
was in Southern California, (that he remembered), "was it Santa California?" No, that didn't sound right.
He decided to look up the Santa's in California. Wow, he was amazed, as there were alot of them. Santa Ana, nice name, didn't sound right, Santa Clarita, no, Santa Anita, no, (nice horse racing though), Santa Barbara,
"nice, he's heard", Santa Fe, what? Different state, Santa Cruz, that might
be okay, but then Williard suddenly remembered what his friend had said.
It's a magical place in California, North of Long Beach, West of Culver City, Brentwood, Westwood, & Bel Air. Just South of Malibu & North of Venice,
he remembered is that perfect place. Williard found it. He would be in
Santa Monica, enjoying the Santa Monica holidays with Santa Claus! And
so it was, Williard took his friend's advice and opted for a guided walking adventure in beautiful Santa Monica. (Of course with the Santa Monica
Downtown Walking Tours) ha ha.
Third Street Promenade was glowing in beauty with all the Christmas lights, carols were being sung in every store, Tourists, like Williard, were basking in the warmth of the employees and residents who greeted them openly, and Williard embraced the healthy lifestyle Santa Monica promoted with joy.
His friend is still shocked!
We'll keep you posted on Williard, who is determined to stay through the
New Year. Last we heard, he was thinking about teaching yoga. Go figure!

Juneteenth
Observance of the historic emancipation of Americans from slavery. This holiday not only marks the date of Lincoln's issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation (Sept. 22, 1862), or the official effective date (Jan. 1, 1863), but also the date in 1865 it's been said, when slaves in Texas finally received news of their freedom. The Juneteenth observance spread nationally over the years. The 17th annual celebration will be celebrated this year in June (sponsored by the Vity & the Juneteenth Celebration Committee, Inc.)
